The problem I had to solve for this shoot for Hawaii Business Magazine was that there was a protective metal mesh surrounding the pour area. This meant I would need to be within the protective shield to get the photograph I was I envisioning.

Easier said than done.

The suit would prove too dificult to manuver in, and the protective area within the mesh shield was cozy at best, and being in there with molten cinder that would raipidly cool and subsequently shatter made it slightly hazardous to operate a camera in without the protective gear...which made it nearly impossible to operate the camera anyway! My solution? Remote triggering a zone focused camera set to F22 and using off camera lights to ulluminate the scene making it very dramatic. Plus Hadley was wonderful to work with!
